The title for this blog takes its inspiration from Dolores Ibarrurri (‘La Pasionaria’,) a Republican activist during the Spanish Civil War, who famously said that it is ‘Better to die on your feet than live forever on your knees.’ It’s thanks to my dad that Dolores became a part of my life – propelled, as he was when I was growing up, to learn about the struggles of the anarchists in the Civil War. He read widely and profusely, and his passion filtered through to me. This is a blog that, in every sense, reflects the person that I aspire to be: somebody who doesn’t just die on her feet, but lives on them, too, (occasionally even running and dancing on them.)
